Patience

So, I've just learned these past couple of weeks that patience is not one of my best qualities.

I've been applying to jobs, some that are out of my league, but you don't know unless you try, for a while now and I know it takes time right after school, but it is really testing my patience.

I've also noticed that it's not just with applications, but with the super-length in time I received in between exams, that I just wanted to get them over with, and with traffic jams, and apartment availabilities.

I know it's something that I have to learn, but its hard when there's nothing else to think about but finding a job.

Home Game 1

So, Friday, Will & I ended up gong to the first home game in Ottawa, and it was fantastic. I have never seen so much RED in one building ever. They had the festivities 3 hours before and it was just crazy!! There was face painting, hair colouring, tattoos, buying shirts, live music, and tons of stuff for kids. They gave out the sticks that make this immense noise, and I swear that's all you could hear throughout the 3 hours we were there. Will ended up breaking 3 of them because he was hitting them so hard. Overall, it was a great game, with a great vibe!! And, Will's getting to go back on Saturday for Game 5 with my sister Stephanie. So lucky!! Playoffs are just so much more exciting than regular season!

Sports & Exercise

Today, we went out to buy some sports equipment for some summer fun!

Will & I ended picking up a soccer ball and some tennis rackets, and we were going to pick up a frisbee, but they were kinda expensive (not like the soccer ball and tennis rackets aren't expensive), but we figured we had enough to work with for a while so we stuck with it.

I wanted to head to the tennis courts right down the street, but there were some guys there, so we decided to head to a close baseball diamond and kick the soccer ball around, and even tried to use it as a volleyball!!

I can't believe that 45 minutes outside could bring so much exercise and sweat (with the help of 23 degrees of sunny weather)!!

It actually felt like I was on a 5km run, but I felt less tired afterwards, and I won't be as sore in the morning!!

I cannot wait to get back out there with the soccer ball or even to try tennis for the first time!!!

I used to be so lazy and just sit in the backyard and suntan all day long!!

Life works in weird ways!!!

YAY!!!

Obsessed

I'm now officially obsessed with Backgammon (no, not Sudoku, like everyone else)

My boyfriend tells me I play it too much, and he figures that whenever I am on the computer, I am playing backgammon, even when I am really doing school work or researching apartment and job listings!!

But, mind you, I will play just sitting in front of the TV for a few hours a day and I'm completely obsessed.

I have no idea why.

Busy, busy, busy

It's been a busy last couple of days...

Easter weekend we headed to church for Good Friday service and headed to East Sides for lunch, I was terribly upset that their new menu does not include their super-delicious Mac N Cheese anymore. But life goes on.

Monday morning I had an exam on Drug Addictions but then came home and started spring cleaning everything in sight. I started with my car, which was full on "winter garbage" and other winter accessories (like ice skates, snow brush, ice scraper, etc...) then moved on to my apartment where I have all this junk like "Renters News" from fall 2005 and so much stupid stuff that I didn't need to hang on to. Besides, it makes it easier to clear stuff out and organize when I have to move in August.

I'm moving in with my sister Stephanie, which should keep things pretty lively, and she's bringing with her, Joey, her cat (and he was named after Joey from N'Sync). We're hoping to get into this 2-bedroom terrace in Barrhaven, newly built. Each room has their own ensuite bathroom, and gas fireplace, and A/C and it just looks amazing!

Tuesday, I took Will out on a surprise trip to the Hershey Factory! He had never been, so we even took the tour around to watch how the Reese Peanut Butter Cups, Chocolate Syrup, Oh Henry, and Hershey Almond Bars were made and packaged. It was so cool and he was very excited, that he wanted to buy one of everything in the store! Luckily we didn't buy too much, and we haven't eaten it all in one day, either, thankfully. I don't want the dentist to be yelling at me!!

We also went shopping because we got our income tax refunds and Will really needed some summer clothes and some sandals. We spent 2 hours in Bayshore visiting every store possible trying on all sorts of stuff, and came out with, for Will, 3 pairs of shorts, 5 t-shirts and a pair of sandals and for me I just got a pair of shorts to go running in.

After that we rushed home to drop off our packages and rushed to the airport to pick up my Mom from her trip to Victoria, BC. It took us 40 minutes to get to the airport and another 10-15 to find a parking spot. We get there find that her plane is only delayed 7 minutes, but got their a little early anyway, so we just chilled out on the couch watching the big giant tv on the wall.

We drove my mom home, got some presents, and saw some pictures, and we all drove over to my sister's house so that she could pick up her cat and so that Will and I could go running.

I ended up running 4.5km (my first BIG run of the season) with Will and Steph and was dying right at the end (mostly from my asthma, but some from my stomach cramps). But, waking up this morning, I'm not nearly in as much pain as I was the other times I would start running. So, I've come to a conclusion that I need to run more with Steph in order to be fit enough to run the 10km in the Marathon Weekend at the last weekend in May.

So a lot has been done, a lot more to be done. I still have 2 exams left and still have to find a job (it's really hard out there in the real world) and then find a new apartment to live in.

Busy, busy, busy...

Hockey

So, I'm going against the beliefs of my boyfriend in saying:

GO LEAFS GO!!

I'm not even a big fan of the Leafs, but I know it drives him nuts for me to say it, and it makes my sister Stephanie super happy!

The Leafs, as of today before their game tonight, they need to win atleast 3 out of their 4 games left and Tampa Bay needs to lose all the rest of their 3 games, and Atlanta needs to lose only 2 of their 4 games left.

Is it really possible?? Who knows!! If the Leafs apply themselves properly in the last 4 games (1 of which is against Ottawa, Will's favourite team) then they could actually make it, then end up playing Ottawa in the first round. And we all know how unsuccessful Ottawa is with Toronto in the playoffs.

Bring on the playoffs!! It will definitely be very exciting. Anyone can win.

Blah, blah, blah

So, I've decided to change the look of my blog, as I've noticed with other people they tend to change it every few weeks, or few blogs.

Blah, blah, blah.

I've got nothing too much to say, except that I have 17 days left until I am officially finished school. I'm so excited to get out there! Still no job offers yet, but I haven't lost hope!!

17 days!!

Thursday, April 6

Handed in my final paper today, and it felt sooooo good!!

I was walking back to my car from my class and it was super sunny, and it made my day to know that all I have left are my exams, and I'm free!! (or just the opposite!!)

I still don't know how to get to certain places on campus! But, oh well! I don't think anyone ever knows where all the buildings, pathways, tunnels, shortcuts, classrooms are on campus anyway! If you do, come see me, I'll give you a room in Mackenzie Building and see how long it takes you to find it!! Most complicated building ever!! HAH!

Wow, it seems just like yesterday that I started heading to Carleton as a Math Student, and now I'm leaving as a Psychology Major!!

Woo! Hoo!

Job Fair

I went to the job fair at school today and found it very overwhelming for me.

I had never been to a job fair before.

I am very anxious and nervous to be finishing up school.

No more summers off.

No more part-time jobs.

No more free time.

No more procrastination.

Employers ranged from Children's Aid Society, Canadian Security Intelligence Systems, Canadian Montessori Academy, Microsoft, National Defence, Carleton University Recruitment, etc...

Had no idea what questions to ask, what information to offer of myself, how to approach myself, etc...

Wow, I'm into the real world now,
with job hunts,
with interviews,
with resumes,
with phone calls,
with salaries,
with 40+ hours/week,
with promotions,
with demotions.
