Alrighty then...

So, seen as how I still have no access to email, or telephone (unless I travel across the office to use one) this is my only access to civilization that is close enough to relate to and to keep me calm.

Going from sitting at home all day watching tv and using the computer 24/7 to working 8hrs/5days a week with no email or phone, it's a little awkward. I come home and there's an average of 15-30 emails waiting for me from one day. Mind you most of it is junk, but it's a lot easier (and less frustrating) to filter throughout the day when I have an extra second here at work.

It seems that everyone here is obsessed with Freecell Solitaire and seen as how I still cannot grasp the concept on how to play it, I am stuck with regular Solitaire and Minesweeper, in which my daily goal is to win in Solitaire just once and to beat all my best times on Minesweeper.

I still haven't figured out how to switch it on the internet so that my websites don't always show up in French. That's getting annoying too.

The job isn't that bad. My back gets a little sore, and I always have to get up every once in awhile to stretch my legs. But I'm enjoying everything. Who would've thought a desk job with data entry would be so interesting. But this is what I really want to be doing anyway. So, when I look for a permanent job within the government sources this is where I would like to be heading.

time flies when....

Well it's been a while since my last post so I thought I would update...

I started working a few weeks ago doing stuff that I absolutely love - even though everyone hates doing it - it's great!! they think i'm crazy to keep wanting more work to do!

I've come to realize with this job (and with taking the bus) that I am in dire need to purchase an umbrella. this was the 2nd time I've had to walk home from the bus stop in pouring rain. boo. what a way to end your long day at work

i also had to help my sisters move out of her condo, move one of my sister's stuff into my mom's basement and move the other sister's stuff out of my mom's basement. it was a busy day.

i've come to realize some at certain points in the day i feel really young, and some points in the day i feel really old.

for example: i feel really young at work because everyone's "experienced" at work and feeling new at a job also makes me feel young.

i feel really old when i start to look back on my life and my family's. thinking that my sister has bought a house. two of my siblings are married. i've been away from home for almost 3 years. it's crazy how fast life can go!!

Busy Weekend

So, I've had a busy weekend...

Friday

...got my hair cut and its super short, some pieces can't even fit behind my ear and poking me in the eye. I haven't had my hair this short for 10 years or so.

...got my licence renewed, which of course required a new photo taken, which instigated the hair cut to begin with (and because I hadn't gone since January)

...handed in my tenant terminancy lease to my landlord as I am leaving this building the end of August, thank goodness (no more bugs, no more clogged sinks, no more smokers, no more constant sirens)

Saturday

...went with Stephanie to check out some new/used cars, and of course it was like 5 degrees outside and windy, with my hair flying around everywhere and I ended up wearing some mittens throughout the day

...went to Future Shop to spend 20 minutes waiting in the customer service line to return some DVD-R and another hour to have Steph buy a new, red, Telus cell phone. The guy couldn't get any of the computers to work in Future Shop to activate her phone, and then once we got a phone number and signed all the details with it, he went to call from the new cell phone to Telus to officially activate it and took 15 minutes, before Steph gave up and said she would try later today without him.

...watched the Oilers/Hurricanes hockey game, and even though I have mostly lost hope for Edmonton, there's still a glimmer of hope inside me for them to win. As of now, in the third period, Edmonton is winning 1-0, but anything can happen

Sunday

... not quite sure what my plans are, but I know that I should be just chillin' on the couch watching movies and such

Needs

I saw this on someone else's blog and thought it was kinda cool...

What you do... is type your first name and the word "needs" into Google and see what comes up.

Here are my top 10 hits...

Cheryl needs...

...to write some functions to figure out what happened

...new study skills, organizational skills, time management skills, research skills

...a few nude scenes (ouch...referring to an actress (cheryl hines))

...work on Japanese grammar

...your generous financial help

...a dental plan that will cover dental visits in other states

...some more money to expand

...to channel her strengths toward a focused vocation and take a holistic view of her career

...help to get on the criminal mastermind's track

...needs a prescription picked up for a terrible rash

Pretty interesting stuff....not at all true about me!!

Go Canada! Go!

After 16 years, Edmonton is heading back to the Stanley Cup Finals!!

The Cup belongs in Canada, so hopefully this week-long break shouldn't effect the Oilers playing strategies that we all know they are capable of achieving!
