NYC - Part III

We headed into the city again for the second day, but this time we had a tour guide with us - my aunt!! We headed straight down to SoHo and checked out this market that is open every weekend on the streets. There was food and clothes and jewelry everywhere!! We got to check out one of my aunt's favourite store Anthropologie. It is such a cool store!!
We headed into Little Italy and grabbed some lunch and made our way into Chinatown. There was lots of fish everywhere so we didn't stay too long. There was also a bucket of frogs. Everything was still alive to prove the freshness of the food. After asking several people for directions, we managed to find our way en route to the Brooklyn Bridge. This seemed like the hottest point in the day and there was no shade to protect us. We walked up the bridge until the first pedestal and soaked in the view.
We walked back and along the pier and made our way to the famous Staten Island Ferry. After waiting through cancellations and delays, we finally made it on the ferry as the sun was starting to set. It was a gorgeous site!! We took the subway towards downtown and walked along in search of food. We got off the subway at Grand Central Station and it is so big and so busy!! I attempted to take pictures but the lighting was really dim.
My aunt really wanted to show us Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, but by the time we reached it - it was really dark. It was a beautiful fountain and seemed like a very romantic spot. We ended up seeing these people setting it up with little tealights to help out their friend who was proposing to his girlfriend that night!! We decided to head back to Penn Station to head back to NJ and grabbed some dinner through the several fast food restaurants that were offered.

I think we fared pretty well on that day in New York - it was unbelievably hot, wasn't it?! I think you all came down on the hottest weekend in the summer.

It was so nice to spend time with you. I wish I had been more on the ball with your birthday... I have a really cool image of you and your sisters under the promenade of the Bethusda Fountain at night. It looks very dramatic. I'll send you a copy.
